Most modern cars use a unibody, where the body and frame are one structure. Trucks and many large SUVs use a separate frame. Either way, a collision can bend the structure even when the outside damage looks small.
The warning signs
- Doors, hood or trunk don’t close right. They stick, need a slam, or don’t line up with the latch.
- Uneven panel gaps. The space between a door and fender, or around the hood, is wider on one side.
- The car pulls to one side even after an alignment.
- Uneven tire wear that shows up in the weeks after the accident.
- New creaks, rattles or clunks over bumps.
- The car sits crooked or one corner looks lower than the others.
- Visible kinks or wrinkles in the metal under the car, in the trunk floor or behind the bumper.
Why it matters
Your car’s structure is designed to absorb energy in a crash through crumple zones. A bent frame can change how the car protects you in the next accident. It also affects alignment, tire life and how safety sensors are aimed.
How we check and fix it
At Express Collision Centers we measure the vehicle against factory dimensions, pull the structure back into place, then measure again to confirm. If a section can’t be safely straightened, it gets replaced. Frame repairs are documented for your insurer and covered by our lifetime guarantee.
